Artistic Work Experience
1999 – Present: Owner / Goldsmith / Jewelry Artist –
Jewelry Artist Barbara McLaughlin defines her work as "rich textures and gorgeous gemstones." Studio space is shared with her husband Robert, a lapidary artist on the seacoast of New Hampshire.
McLaughlin creates her jewelry one piece at a time using traditional metalsmithing techniques, including embossing, forging, fusing, stamping, reticulation of silver, and lapidary of focal gemstones.
The work is fabricated from Sterling Silver with accent metals of high karat gold, bronze and copper.
Barbara McLaughlin is a self-taught metalsmith with a thirst for knowledge. Armed with her MBA, books became her friend.
Experimentation in the studio was substituted for hands on training, allowing her to explore techniques freely.
