Barbara Smith McLaughlin - Goldsmith
Bold colorful studio cut gemstones, elegant textures inspired by nature is my signature of excellence!
| |

|
|
My inspiration is drawn from nature's diverse color pallets and textures. Each piece of my jewelry is fabricated in gold using traditional
metalsmithing techniques. Uniquely shaped studio cut gemstones, of opal, agate or jasper are combined with accent stones of diamonds,
sapphires, pearls or tourmalines. I love the warmth and richness that 22K gold imparts to the color pallet. It is this balance of color
that is the foundation of each design. |

I want each piece to merge with you, creating harmony, good karma and memories. You, my customer should look
radianat, elegant and timeless. Then let them ask, where did you get that Necklace!.........

Textural surface embellishments are a signature of my work, as they symbolize the vast textures found in nature. It is these textures that are
achieved through a variety of methods including embossing, roller printing, fusing, stamping, hammering, broom casting and granulation.
This pendant has a stamped pattern on one side of the boulder opal. I used texture to offset the koriot opal and ironstone (brown). |
| |
I use these textures, as the bridge to marry the various components of a piece together stylistically. By combining these elements I can fashion distinctive yet versatile jewelry pieces. When asked to describe my work, I define it as clean, crisp and timeless in design. Each piece blends the elements of bold colored gemstones and textures. |

Many of my Customers referred to my jewelry as "monochromatic", "pleasing to the eye" and "less busy!" than some of my contemporaries.
Remember . . . . . . I fabricate each piece one at a time, making it as unique as you are! ............ Creating heirlooms, to be treasured for generations.
